I am converting my closed bow Starcraft to add bow and stern casting decks. Bow deck will have a swivel-eze seat, fishfinder, trolling motor with 'ducer mounted to the trolling motor, maybe. Possibly glassed into the hull as close to the bow as possible. Stern deck will be 5'x2'x1.9' with a swivel seat, 36" wide access hatch to get at the gas tank and battery. Both decks will be finished with outdoor carpet, and I'll add a nice trim to hide the edge of the carpet and complete the look of the deck. I hope to be able to make these decks appear factory-made!
I am new to this type of project, however, I helped my buddy put a casting deck in his boat 10 years or so ago, and I have a buddy working with me who knows about fibreglassing. I would appreciate any advice members may wish to share as my project progresses. Safety is of course a huge factor in what I am attempting to do.
I will be working on this project thru the winter, when it is not too cold, or I'm icefishing ;)
