Submitted By: arthur

Description: Air-boats have not changed a great deal over the years.I have tried model airboats with a horizontal fan to make them more quiet, safer, less dangerous in appearance. If anyone is interested in submitting and running a similar project we could perhaps compare ideas even though we have no forum operating.

The notion that air boats must have a vertical fan for top efficiency may not be true. Do you really want to wear earmuffs and have vibration and noise, if there is a better quieter alternative. With a horizontal fan a cyclonic effect is created and works the same as a cyclone or Tornado in nature.

Image is of a model powered by a computer fan. This model goes surprisingly well.

This conventional air boat would not appear to be very efficient to some people but does a job some air boats are not suitable for.

The Coast Guard needs a covered vehicle for rescue work. But how good does it do the job?
