bringing her home.
time to assess the damage: i was pushing on the plywood and the fibers were separating.
 (Insert New Caption)
 (Insert New Caption)
someone used steel screws and washers to hold down the deck. i had to grind the heads off to get the ply out.
the transom was so rotted that the screws that hold the splashwell to it wouldn't hold anymore, and someone used a crap load of silicone caulk.
 (Insert New Caption)
 (Insert New Caption)
the side panels were pretty rotted, this one was missing the last few inches of it.
bilge pump hose, just hangin out! again, clear silicone.

carpet out, notice where you can clearly see the line of a newer piece of ply.
SURPRISE! there are 2 layers of ply, and it was literally wet in between the layers.
 (Insert New Caption)
 (Insert New Caption)
most of the ply came out like wet cardboard.

further inspection of the transom reveals just how bad it is. that was with a flat bar, a semi light hit. again, MORE clear silicone.
motor finally off.

 (Insert New Caption)

transom caps off, posing a problem: how to get the transom out? had to trim the aluminum back enough to get it out.

 (Insert New Caption)
 (Insert New Caption)
nasty old transom coming out, had to drill a hole in it to snake a wire through, then use a 6 ft pry bar to lift it out. It was SOOOO swollen.
