Description: I bought this 87 thompson carrera a few months ago the previous owner failed the tell me that the transom was rotted(must of just slipped his mind). So I am in the process of tearing out the old transom and then will be replaceing the floor cause he did such a great job on that as well.
Tools / Materials: Go to the Boating Store

There she is, so pritty
The motor is a 1987 mercruiser 170hp 4cyl

Heres the engine bay with engine and drive removed notice the cancer spot on the right
Engine & Gimble houseing removed

rear floor sections removed
We got the rear sections of floor out and are ready to start tearing out the old wood. Luckely though the way this transom is designed I will only have to replace the center peice as it is seperate from the other sections.

so heres what was under the glass, a whole bunch of nice rotted wood
The rot under the fiberglass

Transom is stripped and ready for the new wood
So we got the old wood out it took about a 1/2 hour to strip it to the glass useing chisels, scrappers and a grinder. Know all she needs is some fresh wood.

This was a lot of fun, by fun i mean not. Im still finding resin in places i didnt think it would be. But its in and thats all that matters.
The new wood is i and resined to the shell
