My 1989 Bayliner Capri

This is my 1989 Bayliner Capri. I purchased this boat in Sept 2004 with the intention of doing more fishing up at the cottage and going for rides with my wife and son. The price was attractive, and seemed to be in fairly good condition. I didn't really notice anything wrong at the time I purcahsed it, and buying in Sept. didn't give me much time to really use it much. So Spring of 2005 came and upto the cottage we go. I did the regular maintenance like plugs and change the oil in the bottom end and bought a new gas container and a new battery. Hooked up the hose and she started right up. That's when I new I bought a good boat. But the motor is only part of the boat. After using it a couple of days I noticed that there was a section of the floor that was week, kinda bouncy. I thought that it was an easy fix and I'll do it over the winter in my garage. Yea right, the boat took up my whole garage and there was no way I would be able to work in there. So I decided to wait until early Spring 2006 to pull it out so I can work on it.

Here you will see the section where the floor was weak. The fiberglass had worn away and the plywood was installed in two pieces so it stared to flex at the jont where the 2 pieces met.

Surprises under the floor

Here are a few things I found under the floor. Now I don't know if these fell in the cup holder holes that were in the floor but that had plastic inserts, so I'm thinking that this floor might have been repaired before, but not so well done.

Since I was fixing the floor near the front I might as well fix it near the back as well. The fiberglass had worn away as well leaving the plywood exposed so I decided to cut out that section and replace it as well.
Well good thing I did becuase I finally found the reason why my boat had a hard time getting to plane with more than one person in the boat.
After cutting out this section all I found was water and a clogged drain pipe. All the foam in the rear section of the boat is soaked and looks like I'll cleaning that out and replacing with new foam.
