Arcade Control Panel

Description: Building a control panel to interface with a computer to play MAME. This is possibly a permanent CP for a showcase cabinet (separated control panel), or a portable-ish control panel to drag around to parties and whatnot

Image Of Original Inspiration
I started with the artwork to procrastinate from doing any ACTUAL work at first. Saw a picture a while back that I liked, but couldn't get it to scale up AND look good at the size I would need it. Closest I could get was twice as big as the original image. Beyond that, it looked like crap for my purposes.

I looked for an image of a flag to vectorize so I could do what I wanted with it. I wasn't certain how the bubbles were created in the original, but I figured it had to be repeatable, since I couldn't create one in Photoshop from scratch without it looking plastic and fake. Eventually, I found this one I felt I could work with.

All you graphics-minded folks out there, I applaud you. I'd bet knowing what I was doing could have saved me the (brace yourselves...the laughter might kill you) MONTH I spent working on this trying to tweak it to get it right. This'll prolly end up looking like an hour's worth of work for you.

Vectorized And Bubble Filtered
After getting everything vectorized, I had to figure out how to add the bubbles. Photoshop's filter plug-ins were the trick I was looking for, and I finally found one that would create the look I was trying for.

Adding light, reflection, blah blah blah finally got me to a picture I was finally happy with, shown here. I hated this step with an all consuming rage. ;-)

This may not be the ultimate-final version I ended up using, but it's the only one I have left that's saved, and it's close enough to what I ended up with for you to see
