I bought this boat about 4 years ago, and have already done a lot of work to it prior to painting it. Its had a major cabin rebuild and tidy up (so the girls are happy), and has also been set up for a bit of fishing. Full rewiring, structural repairs, rod holders, poles, bait tanks, fridge, LED lighting, fresh water tanks, etc. I would really like to buy a Black Watch 26, but hey....
A couple of summers ago, I anchored the boat amongst some other boats, leaving plenty of room for everyone to swing, and the family and I swam in to a favourite little beach. On the beach I heard one of the local yacht owners saying "Who owns that yellow thing out there?" I've never really liked his big ugly yacht, which will remain nameless, but never really liked yellow boats much either, so that day I silently swore to myself that I would repaint her....
Also, despite the fact that the hull originally had old antifoul on it, which I spent a couple of days meticuloulsy removing back to gelcoat, I decided that with the new paint job I would antifoul her again and leave her on a swing mooring. I use the boat regularly, and so do not regret the decision. There is nothing better than waking up at 4am, making a coffee, starting the engine, and heading off...
